The Tucker W. Hipps Memorial Foundation

The Tucker W. Hipps Memorial Foundation was established to honor the memory of Cindy and Gary Hipps’ only son Tucker who died tragically while attending Clemson University at the age of 19. Tucker was passionate about many things in his life including Palmetto Boys State where he learned about leadership, true brotherhood and setting an example in the lives of other young men.

Tucker’s family and friends wish to continue his legacy by giving to those areas that Tucker cherished. Scholarships have been set up in his name for young men and these are awarded through different avenues to deserving young men who have shown leadership abilities and who attend/have attended boys state.

With a mission of “helping people help others”, the Tucker W. Hipps Memorial Foundation plans to engage with other community organizations that help the needy and less fortunate by seeking to improve their lives.   Tucker knew how blessed he was and he had a passion to help those who were not as blessed.  Tucker was not afraid to share his love and joy with anyone no matter who they were or where they lived.  Tucker was a shining light of hope and encouragement to his family and friends and that hope continues as the foundation strives to minister to those impacted by his life.

The foundation will also use Tucker’s story to bring awareness to hazing and support anti-hazing efforts.  Tucker died while on a fraternity run and while the details surrounding his death are not quite known, it is known activities during, following and leading up to his death could have been avoided.
